APP/IRBn recruitment rally results announced

DAPORIJO, Jun 01: The result of fresh recruitment rally for 99 posts of APP/IRBn held in Daporijo from April 23 has been finally declared putting an end to the alleged long controversy of malpractices in recruitment process.
Recruitment was conducted afresh in April after some local NGOs alleged malpractice during the first recruitment process.
Upper Subansiri SP Vijay Kumar informed that recruitment was conducted in a peaceful manner by maintaining all laid down norms and guidelines.
“No public was allowed to enter the recruitment ground during physical test of the candidate. The candidates were thoroughly checked in two check gates before entering into to venue for physical test. Every activity of the recruitment process, including interview, was done under the surveillance of CCTV and video camera,” the SP informed.
Physical test for the candidate was held at BN Ground Daporijo for 10 consecutive
days. 285 candidates out of the total 589 candidates, who appeared in written test,

Candle making training
ITANAGAR, Jun 01: A candle making training under micro entrepreneurship development programme (MEDP) was organized at Takar Colony Naharlagun recently organized by Rural Development Society ( RDS) under the sponsorship of NABARD Itanagar.
The training aimed at developing income generating skills among unemployed local women. Over 35 participants attended the training successfully. Course completion certificates were given to successful trainers which will help them avail financial assistance from bank.
Officers from NABARD State Rural Livelihood Mission (LRSM) also attended the closing ceremony.
Earlier, the programme was inaugurated by K Vaiphei, Manager NABARD along with officers from KVIC on April 12.

ITANAGAR, Jun 01: “Literature is not everybody’s cup of tea; it has to come from within – an inborn quality,” Finance Minister Chowna Mein said Saturday.
Addressing a function jointly organized by the Assam Sahitya Sabha (ASS) and the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) for conferring the 3rd Lummer Dai Literary Award on noted Arunachalee litterateur Kengsam Kenglang posthumously by the ASS at Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum here as chief guest, Mein lauded APLS for going beyond the boundary and maintaining excellent relations with Assam.

With an MA in English, Dai, surprisingly, took to creative writing in Assamese to make his mark in Assamese literature, he said, and appreciated Dai’s wife Nanni Dai, also present on the occasion, for instituting the award, which, he said not only felicitates and honours the recipients but also shows the highest respect to the person after whom the award has been instituted. He donated Rs 1 lakh to the ASS and urged the office bearers to discuss with Education Minister Bosiram Siram about introducing Assamese as a third language in Arunachal.
Exhorting everyone to forget about past happenings and move ahead, ASS president Imran Shah said that both the ASS and the APLS should work together to help their cultural heritages flourish through literature and art. He announced ASS’s help for developing the indigenous culture and literature of Arunachal.
Shah earlier conferred the award on Kenglang, which was received by his son Maipa Kenglang.
“I feel proud that my father has contributed something to Assamese literature for which he would always be remembered in both the states,” Maipa said in his acceptance comment.
The ASS had instituted the award after Dai in recognition of his powerful writing that served as a literary bridge between the people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, said ASS general secretary Prahalad Chandra Tasa, adding that Dai and Kenglang both acted as cultural ambassadors of both the states. The award is a befitting tribute to his invaluable contributions, he added.
“Language has no boundary and wins hearts of all sections of the society,” APLS president and Sahitya Akademi awardee YD Thongchi said in his presidential address.
Author Kaling Borang spoke about Dai in words that sounded more like songs, justifying his ability as a multilingual poet.
While Mein released Silukor Juri, written by Kaling Borang, WRD Parliamentary Secretary Thinghap Taiju released Changing Social & Cultural Institutions of Adis of Arunachal Pradesh, written by JNC assistant professor Dr Gindu Borang, to mark the occasion.
Parliamentary Secretaries Phosum Khimhun (Trade & Commerce) and PD Sona (Tourism), APLS general secretary Tokong Pertin, APLS AGS Dr Pekba Ringu and noted Assamese poet Ajanta also spoke.

NCP deplores deteriorating law and order in Capital
ITANAGAR, Jun 01: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Arunachal Pradesh unit slammed the state law enforcing agencies for failing to nab the murderer(s) of Bomjen Gapak even after five days of the incident.
Expressing doubt over efficiency and professionalism in Capital Police, NCP president Kahfa Bengia in a release rued that “The so called sensitive and People First Govt. have to wait for ultimatum from students’ unions and other social organizations for nabbing the criminals.”
Deploring the deteriorating law and order situation in the state capital, where murder, extortion and burglary has become order of the day, the NCP President urged the Chief Minister, who is also holding the Home portfolio and the Parliamentary Secretary (Home), the DGP and SP Capital to wake up from the slumber and attend to the clarion call of the City dwellers for peace, tranquility and social harmony.

Reminding the SP (Itanagar) of his assurance given in a press conference before Panchayat Election to arrest the assassin(s) in a time period of a month, Bengia wondered as to how a criminal investigation case, unlike building of a RCC house or a road, can be time stipulated!
“Such repeated false assurances by high officials and political leaders in power simply add insult to injury,” he added.
Org pleads for early solution to murder case
Condemning the gruesome murder of a teenager on the wee hours of May 27 last, The Arunachal Pradesh People’s Welfare Association (APPWA) has urged the home department for early arrest of the culprits and awarding them exemplary punishment.

Sille branch of Rural Bank remains defunct for 3 weeks

According to him, the server of the IP Star operating system is controlled from Bangalore. However, he is seeking technicians from Guwahati regional office to repair the system. But the system can not be repaired till today for want of expert/technicians, the BM informed.
The bank was earlier served by an IV Set, which was replaced with the IP Star system during early last year, he informed.
But the customers alleged that the department officials are not paying any heed towards their problem despite repeated pleas.

ITANAGAR, Jun 01: Issuance of PRC to non APSTs is the most deplorable act of the ruling Congress Government, said Arunachal Pradesh unit of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
“At a time when various political parties (not Congress), students’ unions and organizations have declared a crusade in cleaning up the state from the menace of refugee issue, endless instances of corruptions, absolute lawlessness, increasing pauperization of the masses, alienation of the Govt. Servants from their masters, gender discrimination, nepotism and favoritism in appointment of Govt. jobs and distribution of scarce resources, the unilateral steps on the part of the Ruling Congress Govt. to grant PRC to non APSTs is extremely unfortunate and condemnable,” said NCP state president Kahfa Bengia, in a release.
The Nehru Elwin Policy of Protective Development which is well reflected in legal provisions of the Constitution via Inner Line Regulation Act of 1873, primarily aims at safeguarding the politico economic and cultural interests of the Indigenous Tribal Communities. This British Policy of protecting the Tribals from exploitation from the wider society was well carried out by the policy makers in post Independence era too, Bengia said.
“The recognition of the Tribals in inheriting their customary rights over natural resources and ban on transfer of immovable properties such as land to non tribals is still in existence throughout the State. However, in recent years, there is an increasing trend in dilution starting from Centre’s policy on hydropower of not providing any safeguards to Arunachalees while envisaging Arunachal to be the power house of the nation, bringing rail line well in to the heart of the Capital without calculating the effectiveness of the inner line laws, laxity shown in tackling the underground menace in Tirap and Changlang, and most importantly, clear intention of the Govt. to issue PRCs to the non APSTs in different pockets of the State through a recommendation by Joint High Power Committee headed by MP Takam Sanjoy,” the release said.
According to Bengia, the NCP Arunachal unit, though nationalist in vision but would not hesitate being parochial in safeguarding the interest of its future generation.
“Issuing of PRCs is a first step towards grabbing and sharing of the scarce resources with the locals to be followed by claiming ST Certificates with patronage of the selfish politicians in power,” he said.
According to him, even a lump sum survey in pockets of Lohit, Pasighat, Roing, Tenga, Bomdila Likabali and other towns sharing boundary with Assam, will prove his point right.
Bengia said that he had submitted letter to Chief Minister Nabam Tuki with a copy to Union Home Ministers Sushil Kumar Shinde and NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar cautioning that any forceful imposition which is against the popular will and interest of the Tribal state shall be resisted tooth and nail.
The overt and covert interference by Centre through its corporate giants and handful of tribal elected elites of the state— all in the name of nation building and global economic liberalization, according to Bengia, is a long term dirty politics of the Centre, which will not go down well with the already liberated Arunachalees of the 21st Century.
Learning lessons from People’s movement in Jharkhand and Chhatisgarh, the Tribals of Arunachal today, especially the College and University goers have realized that they can no longer be taken for a ride.
The Centre’s attempt to make Arunachal a ‘Bombay Mixture’ and dumping ground for refugees and Non APSTs with PRC holders as well as large migrant labour force to carry out the innumerable Hydro Power Projects etc. have been very clearly understood by the conscious Arunachalees.
According to Bengia, it is high time that the political master’s in Delhi and Itanagar clearly understand the writings on the walls of Pasighat, Dayun, Bordumsa, Namsai and Bomdila and take immediate corrective steps before the situation goes out of hand.
